The majority of our co-op positions are in our manufacturing facilities, and a significant number of our co-ops have an engineering major. Our Information Services, Finance and Chemical Research and Development areas have a limited number of co-op opportunities. We focus on chemical, mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering majors. Other engineering majors are considered as well as technical majors such as chemistry, physics, math, finance, accounting, computer science and textile majors.
The skills and personal qualities that make an individual successful in our cooperative education process are:
- Flexibility to manage multiple situations and projects
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Analytical and logical approach to problem solving
- Effective team skills

- Strong work ethic
What Will You Do?
A co-op associate is typically assigned a project on which he/she will focus. Academic year and courses completed are considered when work and projects are assigned. You will be working on projects that seek to reduce operational costs, improve operational processes, uncover innovative solutions to manufacturing problems and increase value to our customers.
Each co-op associate is teamed with a Milliken associate who serves as the co-op's sponsor. You’ll have opportunities to interact with all levels of management throughout Milliken & Company.
Where Can You Go?
The ultimate goal of Milliken's cooperative education process is to recruit our co-ops into full-time management positions upon graduation.
Examples of available career fields for our co-ops are:
